Throughout the year at Logitech each Friday we have a “dress-down-to-work” day where each member of staff pays £1 to wear their own clothes. At the end of the year the money collected plus the money generated from our annual ‘Christmas Raffle’ is collected and the value is matched by the company and then donated to the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
This year Logitech have managed to donate £2344.42 and we thank our generous staff.
The charity invited some of the Logitech team to the The Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow for a tour of the facilities to see what initiatives the donations the charity raise go towards. As well as funding important research in to children’s health funds go to important initiatives within the hospital such as facilities for the children and parents staying in the hospital.
The facilities were amazing and it was great to see what the donations are helping to fund. There is so much on offer for patient support at the hospital but a few things stood out to us – The ‘Teddy Bear Hospital’ allows younger parents to sit down with a nurse who then runs through their full treatment on miniature hospital equipment with the patients favorite stuffed toy as the patient – this prepares the patients for their treatments and hopefully removes some of the fear they may be feeling beforehand, it is also a great opportunity to prepare parents for the treatments too. The hospital also has a full sized cinema screening room in the hospital that shows box office movies that are currently out in the cinema, this provides some much needed respite to both patients and parents/guardians.
The amazing research the charity does and the state-of-the-art facilities of The Royal Children’s Hospital would not be possible without donations, so every little donation really does help.
