Customer success in the process of 4″ InP wafers
8th September 2017
Multiple world leading providers of fibre optic networking products specialising in Cable Television Broadband (CATV), fibre-to-the-home (FTH), internet data centres and much more have been utilising the Logitech PM6 Precision Lapping & Polishing system for the process of Indium Phosphide (InP) wafers.
In a sector driven by bandwidth demand and fuelled by growth of the industry, we have various customers who require a system that allowed them to maximise their throughput without jeopardising sample yield.
The PM6 users are repeatedly achieving less than 2µm TTV on 4″ Indium Phosphide wafers, stringent specifications they have been unable to achieve before utilising other methods. Taking an automated approach to their wafer processing has allowed them to see substantially higher throughput and greater control, allowing them to achieve this sample specification.
The features and functionality of the PM6 including recipe mode, auto plate flatness control and real time data collection helped operators with basic training achieve the same accuracy and throughput that a skilled engineer may deliver. This therefore allowed them to achieve a real boost in productivity, benefiting data processing in high speed fibre communications applications.
