Logitech introduce major material processing advances with the Akribis-air: Intelligent sample preparation system.

Accuracy in results is key to the success of all material processing applications, this has driven the process and development team at Logitech to develop a new, highly automated, accurate and reliable system.

Akribis-air is the first in the series of Logitech’s new intelligent sample preparation systems, delivering substantial benefit through a number of new technologies and innovative mechanics developed by the company.

The single station system is ideal for processing silicon, sapphire, silicon carbide, gallium nitride and other optical and semiconductor materials.  The introduction of an air driven jig provides faster removal rates and higher accuracies through increased load capacity and direct control using the software interface.  The introduction of bluetooth to the jig, enables the system to deliver real-time information to the user which is critical in the processing of expensive and fragile materials and devices.

The addition of many automated features allows Akribis-air to deliver effortless operator set-up and control.  These features seriously reduce the need for user input, variability, set-up and clean up operations.  Processing times can be reduced by as much as 40% over the complete process.

The team at Logitech are also aware of the need to minimise spend on consumable products.  To address this the system has been developed to include a software controlled metered abrasive feed supply.  This minimises slurry waste and provides consistent and accurate slurry volumes, resulting in repeatable process results from wafer to wafer and substantial cost savings.
